Welcome to The 7th Asian Carriers' Conference!
More delegates troop to Cebu this year
Almost 1,000 delegates from 45 countries recently attended the 7th Asian Carriers' Conference (ACC), a telecommunications event organized by PLDT and Smart in Cebu.
Themed "Embracing New Value Streams for Growth," the 7th ACC participants learned about new concepts and innovations, as well as developments and opportunities in the telecoms industry that will help their companies grow.
An annual international conference, the ACC provides a venue for leaders from the wholesale fixed and mobile telecoms carriers to meet and network, collaborate, and conduct business with delegates from the extended telecoms industry.
Empowering Pangan-an Island
Corporate Social Responsibility has always been high in the priorities’ list of the Asian Carriers’ Conference (ACC), the largest gathering of representatives from the telecoms industry in the Asia Pacific region.
Over the years, the ACC has reached out to various islands in Mactan, Cebu to offer donations that have benefited entire communities. This year, the ACC team traversed to the fishing village of Pangan-an, one of the six satellite islets that compose the Olango Island group located in Lapu-Lapu City.
Powered by the sun, Pangan-an Island is the recipient of the first solar power project in the country back in 1998. But 13 years later, the struggling community can no longer afford to pay for the repair and maintenance of the aging solar power system, now nearing its 15-year life span. So the ACC decided to donate a 3-kilowatt solar power collection system to serve the power requirement of Pangan-an Island Elementary School’s computer laboratory. It also provided five sets of brand new computers with broadband internet access, as well as tables and chairs for the rehabilitated computer laboratory.
